Dance For Kenya at Wealthy Theatre

The Wealthy Theatre is hosting a dance concert to raise funds for a mission trip to Mfangano Island, Kenya. The purpose of the trip is to help the people of the island provide clean drinking water to the villages. They are also planning to teach the locals about health and hygiene. Local professional dancers will be performing. You will also have the chance to learn more about this special island.

The performace starts at 2pm and the doors open an hour earlier. They are advertising that the dance concert is FREE but they suggest a $20 donation.

Garage Sale Time!

Spring is in the air and I've already seen a few garage sale signs up! This is a tightwad dream. We long for this time of year. It's hard to beat a garage sale deal. Sidewalk Chalk Event Downtown

If you haven't heard of this than I might be surprised. It's been advertised everywhere. But I'll post on it just in case there's a few stragglers.

Saturday, April 18th, you can head down to Rosa Parks Circle from noon until 5pm to add your sidewalk chalk artwork to the rest of the masterpiece. Rob Bliss will be giving away 30,000 pieces of sidewalk chalk but you'd better be there early to get some. He's also going to be selling t-shirts to remember this event as well as help pay for some of the event. Here's the rules as he posted on facebook:

1. Only sidewalk chalk - no paint or anything else that doesn't come off with water
2. No drawing on Private property - only public areas
3. No religious, political or drawings of any kind that could be offensive - think rainbows

The Knack is the name of the family craft event that Michael's puts on every month, I believe. This month it is on the 18th and it goes from 10-1pm. You should call and sign up if you plan on attending. Click here to find a store near you. They also have a cool page that is supposed to be for teachers but it looks like anyone can use it. Art Downtown!

This cool event will take you all over downtown to view many different forms of art. It starts at 6pm on April 17th and you'll want to start at the Flatiron Building at 100 Monroe. Friday Night at the GRAM

April 17th will be another Friday Night at the GRAM and you won't want to miss it. The Bill Sears Trio will be playing and the Art Forum will be on aspects of Moby Dick but it will be a multi-media stage performance. As always the event is from 5-9pm and will cost $5 for the evening.

FREE Class on Esssential Oils

Dana Clay Young will be at the Holliday Inn - Airport on the 16th of this month to explain more about essential oils. Are they all alike? Where do they come from? This will be a very informative class. It starts at 7pm and is a a 2 1/2 hour seminar. There is no charge for Thursdays seminar but be aware that it is a weekend event that you will hear about. The rest of the classes cost per day and may cost up to $50.

Wellness Forum Discussion

The Wellness Forum is holiding a discussion on the emotional roots of physical illness on April 16th at 7pm. Certified Somatic Therapist, Ken Porter will be discussing the connection between the two and how to restore these roots by natural means. It's happening at 830 Forest Hill Ave. in Grand Rapids. Are you already thinking about the summer and all the fun you plan on having? Well if you're thinking about getting a boat than get this FREE DVD first. It's all about how to get started in boating. It will give you a quick overview of boat types and uses as well as offer you an interactive tool to help you choose the boat that's right for you.

I, myself, can barely afford the gas for my car let alone a boat so I'll be passing on this one. But if you're serious about getting a boat, a DVD like this would probably be good to make sure you spend your money wisely.
