My husband has recently discovered the wonder that is hot chocolate. I know this may sound funny but it's true. He likes to go to a coffee shop down the road from where he works. Maybe you've heard of it...Beaners? Although, now it is changing its name to Biggby. Since he's started going there our family has followed suit. And I have discovered that there are some freebies and cheapies to be had there.
For starters, if you find one that's local to you check their weekly business card drawing box and see how full it gets. My husband and I were in together once and I noticed that it was the day before the drawing and there was only one card in the box. So I encouraged him to put his card in. Sure enough! He was the winner and he won 10 free cups of coffee for his next staff meeting. Honestly, I think he was a little disappointed it wasn't hot chocolate. But he was excited he won something.
Another interesting thing that the Plainfield location offers is the chance to win one free beverage just for e-mailing a photo of yourself with some Biggby item. Lucky us, my husband found a fancy Biggby travel mug awhile ago that no one had claimed in the lost and found at his work. If you'd like to try this all you have to do is e-mail your photo to store198@biggby.com. But there's only one per customer.
You're also going to want to check out biggby.com and sign up for their e-wards program. Every week they'll send you an e-mail coupon for savings on drinks. They'll also send you something special for your birthday. I have yet to find out what that is, though.
And one final thought about savings at Biggby...They have a kids menu that offers smaller sizes for you little ones. And if you frequent this hot spot you might want to invest in a kids cup to get $.99 refills for them. They also have a little maze card the kiddies can play with while you sip your drinks.
And definitely don't forget your stamp card while your there. 12 drinks gets you a free one and you can combine cards.
I know that spring is around the corner but a little hot chocolate is still nice to have. Enjoy!

I LOVE Beaners (Bigby). There is a Bigby blog I read and I have no idea why other than it makes me think of the deliciousness.
These are great tips! It took me an embarassingly long time to figure out it was better to use a coupon if I had one than a stamp card - $1.00 off is worth more than 1/10 of a coffee but.. live and learn.
I really enjoyed this blog...
I have been a regular customer of Beaners for quite some time...it is a good deal especially if you aren't into the "foo-foo" coffee drinks and you like regular-old brewed coffee.
In addition to the stamp card and email coupons, if you buy a Biggby mug most stores only charge between $1-$1.25 for brewed coffee refills - and they stamp your card for refills too! I purchased a 24oz mug almost 2 years ago for about $18 and have been getting $1 refills since then with it. Then when I have a full stamp-card sometimes I treat myself to an expensive foo-foo drink to try them out (for free!), or save my cards for when I'm running low on cash...they never expire!
Another plus if you surf the net outside of your home - Biggby has free wireless internet. I haven't tried it myself as I don't own a laptop, but I just found out recently that not all bookstores & coffee shops (STARB/SUCKS!) have FREE wireless internet...but that would be a good subject for another blog!
Biggby is definitely good for cheapos like me if you play your 'cards' right.
Great blog!
