Story and Culture for FREE!

The Public Museum is offering Story Time With the Mighty Wurlitzer on Monday's at 10:30am, 11:15am and noon. The great thing about this is that if you have a license that says you live in Grand Rapids then you can get in for FREE. So it would be a really fun day with the kids. Here's what the flier says about it..."Pages from Michigan-authored books are projected on-screen while the story is read aloud and the Mighty Wurlitzer Organ layers the tale with music. Originally designed to accompany silent movies in the 1900’s, the Mighty Wurlitzer is a “one man orchestra” with sounds ranging from timpani beats to an old, original siren; from bird tweets, to horse hoofs and train whistles. Characters and animals are brought to life in an engaging and entertaining way and all stories are appropriate for general audiences."

Summer selections include:
· Song & Dance Man by Karen Ackerman
· Eliza’s Carousel Lion by Lynn A. Strough, David R. Godine, Inc.
· Meteor by Patricia Polacco
· The Keeping Quilt by Patricia Polacco
· Lost In the Woods by Carl R Sams II & Jean Stoick
· Rough Faced Girl by Rafe Martin
· The Legend of the Sleeping Bear by Kathy-jo Warin
· Minty, the story of young Harriet Tubman by Alan Schroeder

An added bonus is that the carousel rides are FREE as well. So be sure to check it out sometime.
