Williams Sonoma Technique Class

I haven't mentioned these in awhile and someone commented on an old post so it reminded me to check it out. The Williams Sonoma store in the Woodland mall has what they call technique classes on Sundays and Mondays. I can't remember the times. You should always call and register. That way they know how much food to bring. On July 12th & 13th you can learn how to make summer desserts. Here's a link to read about this weeks class and the upcoming classes.

New Thrift Store

There's a new thrift store that I found on the NW side of GR. It's called The Branch Thrift Store and it's on the corner of Walker and 4 mile rd. near Kenowa Hills School. They're only open until 4pm during the week and 2pm on Saturday. They have signs that say they have garage sale prices and they are correct! I got a pair of jean shorts for $.50 cents today. It's a nice sweet deal! It's not a big place but if you're a thrift store junkie like myself you'll love it.

Urban Art Workshops

Those of you who are artistically inclined...I applaud you. The best I can offer is a stick figure with a really big round head. So this post is not for me even though I wish it were. The Grand Rapids Public Library is offering art workshops that started today and continue through July 14th. You can show up at the library where it's taking place and make your own work of art with Erwin Erkfitz. You can also help make a piece of art that will be displayed in the community. You need to register for these workshops here. Just scroll down until you see Urban Art Workshops. Then just click on the highlighted time that corresponds to the day you've chosen and you'll get to fill out the registration form. I don't see anything saying that there's a cost so I am thinking it's FREE. Just make sure to register.

Summer Festivals

'Tis the season for festivals and the like. As most of you know I try to focus my posts to things that are happening in Grand Rapids or right on the outskirts. But as I was reminded today from a friendly reader, there's a lot more happening outside of GR. They also reminded me that many people travel farther than 10 minutes to do fun things. And they're absolutely right. I would like to point you all in the right direction for a guide to summer festivals that is more comprehensive than I could ever hope to be. Stop by Schuler's Book store sometime and pick up the local magazine called Revue. They have listings for so many amazing things that are happening in GR and in West Michigan. So for those of you who'd like to check out some events that are farther away be sure you pick up this FREE magazine first. I apologize for not writing about things that are going on in places that aren't so near. Hopefully you'll all understand that as a hobby, not a job, I can only devote so much of my time to this crazy tightwad thing I've got going. I have high hopes that the future could look different. But for right now this is the best I can offer and still have hair left. Thanks for checking out the site! I hope you've found a blessing or two somewhere in my messiness.
