New Civic Theatre play for $5

Unfortunately, the season has finally caught up to me and I am late in writing this blog because of illness. That means this weeks blog may not give you the most benefit. But hopefully it will be information that you can use for the future.

This week starts the beginning of Grease at the Civic Theatre downtown and if you go there tonight (Wednesday) around 5pm you may just get the sneak preview for only $5! For those of you who love to visit the theatre you might have to pick your jaw up off the floor now. I couldn't believe it either when I heard about this great deal.

Here's the scoop: Every time the Civic puts out a new play you can attend their dress rehearsal for just $5. It is always the night before the opening and I'm pretty sure that's always going to be a Wednesday. When I spoke with a rep from the Theatre she told me to make sure to be there at 5pm to get your tickets because it's first come first serve. You can not call ahead or in any way reserve tickets ahead of time. She says that many people come early to purchase tickets and then eat dinner downtown before catching the show at 8pm. Here's some other good news - After 5pm parking is free downtown and the library is right beside the Civic Theatre. So grab your tickets at 5pm, grab some dinner at a local place or head over to the library for some free entertainment before going to the show.

SOMETHING ELSE YOU MAY NOT KNOW IS... if you are a volunteer usher you get to see the shows for FREE! This is not dress rehearsal, it's the regular show times. I use to do this with my family when I was younger and I plan on doing it again as an adult. Usually you have to be there about 45 minutes before the show starts and then you get to stay after it begins. You can go to their website at http://www.grct.org/ to find out about all the volunteering opportunities and register for them.
