Who knew Plainfield could be so fun?


The plainfield KDL is a spot I frequent since it's near where I live. My recent trip there proved to be very productive. Aside from all the goodies I checked out I picked up a pamphlet on there summer programs. I thought I would share them with you since they're all FREE!


Every Tuesday 1pm

-Baby time is a special one-on-one bonding time with baby while you enjoy songs, rhymes, stories and play time.

-For caregivers and babies birth -18months

-Ends July 22


Every Wednesday 10am

-Family storytime is where the family can enjoy stories, songs, crafts and other book-related fun with a different theme each week.

-Registration required

-For ages 6 & under

Every Monday 1pm

-Movie and a craft is just that. Teen volunteers will present a video or story and offer a craft.

June 17th 6:45pm

-Smoothie blast is where teens in grades 6-12 can mix up their own creations.

June 18th 6:45pm

-K-8th graders will be putting on a talent show. Check them out!


June 19th 1pm

-Help the other letters and their friends solve the mystery of their missing friend X in this lively puppet show called "X is missing!"

-For ages 4 & up


June 24th 6:45pm

-Create a wicked skateboard deck design at the library. All designs will have a chance at becoming an actual skateboard.

June 25th 6:45pm

-"Get spooned" with Jim Cruise as he creates all sorts of music with two ordinary household tablespoons.

June 26th 1pm

-Can't get to the zoo this summer? Z's Kid's Club will bring the zoo to you with live animals in the library.

July 1st 6:45pm

-A local chef will demonstrate how you can make fabulous snacks and desserts to impress your friends.

July 2nd 6:45pm

-Hang out with animals from one of the largest exotic traveling petting zoos in this area.

-Show off your Wii skills or learn some new Wii tricks.

-Bee amazed at the fascinating life of the honey bee! Participants will learn about bees, watch them in an observation hive and do a bee-related craft.

-Help us decorate banners to hang up in the library and create works of art to take home with you.

July 15th 6:45pm

-Come and try your hands at a few beading projects especially for teens. All materials will be provided.

-Registration is required, and participation is limited

-Go wild with the Animal Guy and encounter exotic animals from around the world!

July 17th 1pm

-Find amazing pieces of art, wonderful crafts and the most creative kids in town!

-Get ready to sing, dance and laugh in an interactive concert with Susan Harrison and our pals from PALamazoo Puppets!

-It's a "piece of cake" to decorate beautiful cakes and cookies so join us and give it a try!

August 2nd 6pm

-Watch a professional skater and his skate team demonstrate some cool moves and get an autograph or two!

Most libraries have these events or other going on at some point in the summer. Stop by one near you and ask for their summer programs brochure. There's so much to do at the library and it'll never cost you a dime! Now that's music to my ears!
