This is no joke! Maly's is having a model call on Saturday, November 1st at 9am in the Devos Place - Ballroom A. If you're interested in getting a new look but don't have the money to pay for a great salon service, try this avenue instead. You can sign up to be there at 1800-632-1397 ext. 1. This is just to let them know you're coming to the model call. I've actually done this before and been chosen so let me break down the process for you.
1. Calling to sign up does not make you a hair model. It just lets them know how many people will be coming to the model call.
2. You must be 18 or older to do this.
3. They need men and women.
4. You will be one of hundreds of people hoping to get picked. There are many different companies that will be represented there needing models for the weekend. So if you're really up for anything and you're hair isn't already a professional looking "do" they just might pick you.
5. Know ahead of time what you're ok with them doing to your hair. They can't make you do anything you don't want to do. The more flexible you are, the more likely it is that you'll be picked.
6. This picking process takes awhile so be prepared to wait and maybe not get picked.
7. If you do get picked you will need to be free the days they will be preparing for the show and that will be the boring part if you're alone. Bring a book or something to entertain yourself for a really long day.
8. You also might want to make sure you'll be comfortable being on stage in case that's what they need you to do.
When I went I had plain jane hair that was straight and only to my ears. I told them they could do whatever they wanted except shave it and give me a mohawk. They gave me a super stylish cut, dyed it black and gave me some amazing maroon highlights in funky places. I loved it! For a tightwad like me, it was worth it. I even got free, EXPENSIVE hair products. So all in all it was pretty great. If you do end up trying it and you get something drastic done I'd love to see before and after photos. You can send them to my e-mail at savedfromwaste@yahoo.com
You can see my new "do" in the photo.
