I find that this is a tip most people know about but every now and then I run across people that had no idea. Every Friday night at the Grand Rapids Art Museum you can find a little jazz with your art. Live music from the amazing balcony sets the tone for a great night starting at 5pm and the party ends at 9pm. While you're there you can catch some lectures, gallery talks and even some demonstrations. The cost is $5 for admission and they offer a cash bar and a gourmet buffett until 8pm in the cafe. Here's a peek at their schedule for this Friday, November 7th:
Music:
Charlie Hoats Trio 5:00 – 7:00 pm, Wege Pavilion
Art Forum:
Modern Life/Modern Art: Innovation in the Turn-of-the-Century Print – Hunting GalleryGallery Lecture, Cindy Buckner, Associate CuratorGallery Posters created by Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec and his contemporaries are now regarded as iconic images. But in the 1890s these prints were highly innovative and even shocking. Cindy Buckner will speak about the avant-garde aspects of prints made by Toulouse-Lautrec and his circle. 7:00 – 7:45 pm
Jazz Encore
7:45 – 8:30 pm, Wege Pavilion
For $5 it's not a bad deal! I used to go to the jazz nights at the old museum at it was a fantastic evening and a great date night!
