5 Cheap Holiday Gifts

The holidays are upon us and you may be wondering how to save a little money. I could give a really long list on this subject but instead I'm going to give you just 5. No need to overwhelm you right? So here goes...

1. Groovy Record bowl

What you'll need:

-one medium sized metal bowl

-a record

-an oven

How to:

*Preheat your oven to 450degrees. Open your windows for good ventilation while doing this.

*Place the metal bowl in the oven upside down, and then place the record on top.

*After a few minutes, the record will succumb to the heat and wilt over the bowl.

*Take it out of the oven after just a little bit because you don't want it to melt onto the metal bowl.

*After it's out, flip it over and take the metal bowl out

*Let the record bowl cool down completely

*For an extra touch you can spray paint it

2. Glitter candles

>ok, so this idea I stole out of the magazine Blueprint. But it works!

What you'll need:

-Candles of any size

-Glitter in colors that match the candles

-Spray adhesive

How to:

*Dump the glitter out onto a plate

*Go to a well ventilated area and spray the adhesive on one candle at a time

*Either roll the candle in the glitter or use the plate to sprinkle the glitter on it.

3. Painted frame

What you'll need:

-Old frame

-Acrylic or spray paint

-Brushes if using acrylic paint

How to:

*Start by taking out the glass or plastic "insides" of the frame. It should be a bare frame.

*If using acrylic paints then just use your brush until you have a thick coat on the frame. If using spray paint go to a well ventilated area and make sure you don't care what the frame is sitting on and spray away.

*Let dry and put the "insides" back in.

*To make it an art piece -coordinate the color to match some extra fabric that you can put as your picture.

4. Tassle earrings (also a rip off of Blueprint magazine)

What you'll need:

-Tassles from the curtain section at Hobby Lobby or some other craft store

-Hook earrings also at Hobby Lobby

-Pliers

How to:

*Using your pliers, open up the little circle at the end of your hook earring.

*Slip the hook of the tassle into that little circle

*Use your pliers to close the circle back up tightly and your ready to wear 'em!

5. Set of homemade envelopes
It's much easier if I send you to the site I found to make these. But I suggest that you find paper of any kind that will fit the gift receiver.
