Winter at the zoo

Last week I had the pleasure of visiting the John Ball Zoo with my brother and his two adorable children. Most people wouldn't think of heading to the zoo in the middle of winter. What they might not know is that it's FREE until February 28th! That's right, FREE! The next thing you might say is, "well, they must not have any animals out to see." but in fact you would be wrong. We were able to see lots of animals. Of course the flamingo's aren't out and about but the pelicans and ducks were. We also saw the eagles and even a tiger. One great thing about the zoo is that they have indoor buildings that are fully functional in the winter. The reptile building and the aquarium were both open. And the orangutangs were not outside but, instead, were in their shelter. There's lots to see even in the winter time. My nephew was a little more interested in throwing snow at his daddy but we had a good time looking at the animals too. I'm sure even adults can enjoy a little adventure to the zoo. Enjoy the freebie until the end of the month! Their hours are from 10-4pm. You can find out more information at the website - johnballzoosociety.org
